What should I expect from my first yoga class?
To make a start in a new relationship with yourself. The work we do is deep and involves your attention. Expect to feel refreshed.
Do I need to register before attending a class?
Yes we have a policy that students complete an online form telling us of any health related subjects we need to know about.
What should I wear to class?
We generally say wear loose comfortable clothes that you feel you can move in. Bring a jumper or shawl for the end of class to avoid cooling rapidly.
Do I need to have my own yoga mat?
We have mats and equipment here but if you have your personal mat please feel free to bring it along.
Should I eat before coming to class?
You can eat but its advisable to eat lightly. Try to not eat an hour before class.
Can I do yoga if I am pregnant?
You will need to let us know. If you are new to yoga its a serious consideration, getting the timing right. If you have had a regular practice its different. Non of our current classes are pregnancy specific.
How is yoga different from other kinds of fitness?
The yoga we teach is incorporates breath, your attention (awareness) connecting (not pulling yourself apart) through the muscles, bones and nervous system. Its a holistic approach to a kind relationship with your self based on firm scientific principals.
Arrive at least 5 minutes before the class starts
Allow additional time if it is your first class
Turn off all electronic devices
This means anything that rings, dings or buzzes
Do not wear perfume to class
It can bother other students unless its Channel No 5 !
Advise instructor of any injuries or health issues
You will need to complete a student registration form and tell us of any health issues
Avoid eating 1 hour before class
A heavy meal can make you feel uncomfortable
Don't place your mat directly in front of someone
Ensure everyone has sight lines to the instructor
